News Around the Club

The big news around the club is the 44th Annual KC's Game Feed slated for Saturday, January 20th, starting at 11:00 am. There will be a variety of Raffles and Auctions of artwork, outdoor/hunting/fishing gear, firearms and lots more. To fuel all these activities there will be Spit-roasted Hogs, dishes of Venison, Goose, and Duck along with the Seafood Tent and Raw Bar serving Shrimp, Oysters Rockefeller, Real Fish & Chips, Little Necks, Coconut Shrimp, Clams Casino and more. All washed down with beer served by TIPS® certified bartenders. Bring the kids — we'll setup a supervised BB gun balloon shoot on the pistol range to entertain them. There's prizes for the kids too.

All this fun for only $30/head; under 21 are free.

Last year's Game Feed netted the club over $25,000 which has funded the clearing of several tall pine trees that posed a danger to the clubhouse and other structures in a strong wind event, a spanking new storage shed for the pistol range, the conversion of the old shooting shed into the "Charlie Wood Pavilion" and other projects that are slated but not yet started.

An appeal letter will be mailed to all members inviting them to to help underwrite the Game Feed. Underwriting plays a large part in getting the Game Feed up and rolling by providing a kitty. Everyone who underwrites will go into a drawing and the winner will receive a free, one-year's club membership.

Christmas Party Wrap Up

By all accounts, this year's Christmas Party, organized by Rebecca Glancy, was a thundering success. A BIG word of thanks goes out to Rebecca.

Pistol

The next pistol match will be a "Miss and You're Out!" match held on Saturday, January 6th starting at 11:00 am. For this match the tie breaker will be a new dueling target with two paddles. On the buzzer two duelists will shoot at their respective target. The paddle that is hit first swings around and is displayed in a window and blocks the other target. Shooting this target requires a center-fire round; .22RF will not move the paddles.

Skeet and Trap

Trap shooting on Tuesday evenings is on hold until the Spring. Skeet continues to shoot on shooting Sundays and Wednesday evenings.

Maggie's Drawers Shoot

The Skeet Committee held our annual Maggie's Drawers Shoot on Sunday, December 17th.  The winner was John Hatherley who was awarded his prize, a pair of red bloomers, at the Christmas Party in that evening. John is shown modeling his prize below.

Cowboy Action Shooting

The annual Brass Monkey Shoot will be held on Sunday, January 7th, starting at 9:00 am. At press time the weather conditions are forecast to be ideal with a high temperature of 39° and gentle zephyrs from the northwest at 7 mph  .

Rifle

A .22RF rifle fun shoot will be held on New Year's Day starting at 11:00 am in deference to those who need a wee bit more time on the morning after. There will be categories for both optical and iron sights. This will be a fun day of shooting at animal silhouettes, clay birds and other targets.
