News Around the Club

We have installed a red light with beeper on the 50-yard range that must be turned on before venturing onto the actual range (the sandy bit). Additionally, the Cold Range Procedure for this range has been codified and published as an email to the membership. If you did not receive the email or need a refresher, the email can be viewed here with a printable version downloaded from here. There is still signage to be printed and installed; this will be done in the coming weeks.

Pistol

The next pistol match will be a Bullseye Match on Saturday, March 11th starting at noon. The course of fire for the match is: Slow Fire Stage, 10 rounds in 10 minutes at a B2 target; Timed Fire Stage, 10 rounds fired in two 5-shot strings, 20 seconds per string on a B-3 target; Rapid Fire Stage, 10 rounds fired in two 5-shot strings, 10 seconds per string on a B-3 target.  All targets are shot at 50 ft, one-handed, using iron sights. Any rimfire, centerfire revolver or semiautomatic pistol may be used.

Cost for an afternoon of fun/frustration is a measly $5.00 plus all the coffee you can pour down your gullet after the match is over; crying towels available for those who need them.

Cowboy Action Shooting

The Gunnysackers have galloped off down dusty trails. Some to Arizona for the World Championship Match in Phoenix followed by the National Matches in OK while others are headed to Florida for their State Match. Their return will be via meandering trails that just so happen to pass by other venues that are holding matches. All are expected to return by the beginning of April.

Skeet and Trap

Both disciplines continue to shoot their published schedules.

Quotes of the Month

"To ban guns because criminals use them is to tell the innocent and law-abiding that their rights and liberties depend not on their own conduct, but on the conduct of the guilty and the lawless, and that the law will permit them to have only such rights and liberties as the lawless will allow… For society does not control crime, ever, by forcing the law-abiding to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of criminals. Society controls crime by forcing the criminals to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of the law-abiding."
Jeff Snyder, author

Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote for what to put on the dinner table; Liberty is when the lamb is well-armed.”
Unknown

"An unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it."

Lt. Col. Jeff Cooper
